Sugar and spice and everything nice. That’s what little girls are made of.
I’m sorry I’m dirty, but I had to take the back road to get here. I
ran the whole way through the forest in the dark.
You have to understand, if I hadn’t taken the back way I would never
have made it. I wanted to look nice when I arrived. We were told
that it was perfect here. Clean, beautiful, safe.
. . .
This season I was thinking about how life usually doesn't present the
path you expect. How we are all sold the cult-like belief, as children,
of a safe world, a beautiful world, a world with order and justice. I
was thinking about the benefits of taking the road less travelled.
It's a more lonely and dangerous journey, but it keeps your priorities
straight. You are forced to direct your energy into getting there
rather than into looking good, because no one is watching you as you
run through the forest in the dark.
